Split is a small program designed to create sections of a files
smaller or equal to a specified size. The actual size created is
rounded UP to the nearest 16k for simplicity.
The syntax is: SPLIT <filename> <filesize>
No slashes or dashes are needed.
DON'T feed split.exe a file that ends with a numeric character,
such as datafile.001. If datafile.001 needs to be split, rename
it datafile.xxx or something, as datafile.001 through
datafile.009 are subject to overwrite.
Make sure that the split filesize is at least 1/9 of the total
filesize, or portions won't be created.
The file that gets split MUST have a three character extension.

distribution chosen by the software authors. With shareware, you can
receive a program and put it through its paces without having to pay for
it. If you find the program useful, and choose to keep the program, then
you pay a modest registration fee to the author.

PCXALBUM require a VGA card and 640K of memory and a sound
board such as Voice Master
Read the following before using pcxalbum.
The sample album in this diskette is setup to word with a
Voice Master sound board.
SELECTION MENU
Option 1: Enter the filename of album and a slide view of pcx files can be
displayed by using the pageUp key to advance to the next album
page or by usining the pageDown key to go back to the previous
album page. By pressing the ENTER key the pcx file is display again
along with a recorded message if sound setup program was executed.
To return to the Selecton menu press the ESC key.
Option 2: Enter the filename of the album and the discription menu will
appear. Enter the page number of the album page you want to
display. Once the pcx file is displayed along with recorded
message if it was setup by executing program sound.exe, use the
pageUp, pageDown, ENTER, and ESC keys as in option 1 above, except
that pressing the ESC key returns you to the discription menu
instead of the Selection menu. To return to the Selection menu
enter the appropriate page number from the discription menu that
is the page whose discription is "Quit".
Option 3: Enter the filename of the album and the discription menu will
appear. Enter the page number of the album page that you want to
change. The pcx file will be displayed along with a message
"Press any key to begin recording"; Press any key and record your
message after which the discription menu appears again. To return
to the Selection menu enter the page number whose discription is
"Quit".
Option 4: Enter the filename of the album and the discription menu appears.
Enter one of the page numbers of the album pages to be exchanged.
Then enter the second page number and the page will be exchanged
along with their recorded messages. To return to the Selection
menu enter the page number whose discription is "Quit".
Option 5: Enter the filename of album and then enter the directory of where
the pcx file is located. Next, a directory of pcx files appears,
enter the filename of the pcx file you want to store in the album.
The pcx file will be displayed along with the message "Press a key
to began recording(appears only if the sound program was executed).
After recording your message, the message "Save? (Y/N)" appears on
the screen. If you answer "Y" or "y" enter the discription of the
pcx file that was displayed and this pcx file will become a page
of the album. Press the ENTER key twice to display, record a
message, and save the pcx filoe in the album. Or enter "Q" to
return to the Selection menu.
Option 6: Enter the filename of the album and the discription menu appears.
Enter the page number of the album page that is to be removed.
Enter the page number whose discription is "Quit" to return to the
Selection menu.
Option 7: Terminates the program.
SOUND.EXE program
The sound.exe program setups a configuration file to be use with
the pcxalbum.exe program. When the sound.exe program is executed
the following enteries are made:
1. the directory path of sound programs
2. recording program filename with exectensions .exe or .com
3. playback program filename with extensions .exe or .com
4. filename extension of sound files
The following entries are an example of entering information for
the Voice Master Key sound board:
1. enter "vmkey" directory of programs record and say
2. enter "record.exe" recording program
3. enter "say.exe" playback program
4. enter "v3s" file extension of sound files
The sound.exe program must be executed before the pcxalbum
program is executed in order to record or playback messages in
the album. Note if a displayed picture is to have no sound
record with the mic disconected so that if you decide to add
sound to the picture you can do it; otherwise, the sound can
not be added to the picture. Also, if the record or playback
programs require switches for options make a batch file for
record or playback and enter the name of the batch file
instead of the record or playback file name. Forexample, enter
say.bat for playback program instead of say.exe.
Creating an album
To create an album select option 5 from the Selection menu and
enter the album's filename. Follow Option 5 above to place pcx
files in album.
