parts and 2,000 related words with concise definitions.
The program enables you to learn new words with ease and speed since it
allows you to study a group of related words at a time, each
stemming from a common root word part. For example, a search of the

1. Introduction
WORD-PART DICTIONARY is a program to enhance your
word power. It has a data base of 500 word parts
and 2000 related words with concise definitions. You
can get access to the desired parts or words with a
few key strokes. The selected list of word parts are
related to about 70% of the tough words in a typi-
cal SAT, ACT, CBAT, or GRE verbal test. The system
is menu-driven and has on line instructions. This is
the first system that employs scientific method to
collect the most frequently used word parts. It is
one of the most effective systems to improve your
word power. (Note: Another powerful system available
is PC DICTIONARY-10, which is described in DIC.DOC.)
2. Features:
* Comprehensive Data Base: The WORD-PART DICTIONARY
has over 500 most frequently used word parts and
2000 related words with concise definitions. The
definitions of word parts are compiled from four
most respected sources.
* Menu Driven: The WORD PART DICTIONARY is fully
menu driven. All you need to do is "load and go".
It enables you to get access to part/word with
a few keystrokes.
* A Necessary Tool to Prepare SAT, ACT, CBAT, GRE,
and any Civil Placement Test: The system is
designed specifically for these purposes. Learn-
ing words thru word parts allows you to study a
group of words at a time, instead of one at a time.
It can also help you understand and remember words.
* Average Response Time: 0.4 second.
* Memory Requirement: 55 KB. ( Not memory-resident.)
* Hardware Requirements: One floppy disk drive or
one hard disk drive.
* Recommended for age 12 to adult.
3. SYSTEM FILES
WORD PART DICTIONARY comes with the following files:
load_wp.bat (a batch file to load the system
files from a: to c: )
wp.exe (the main program file)
wp_link.dat (a data file to link the program
and the text data files.)
wp1.dat (text data file #1)
wp2.dat (text data file #2)
wp3.dat (text data file #3)
wp4.dat (text data file #4)
wp.doc (This documentation)
Notes: 1. Please make a backup copy of the files.
2. Please do not modify any file.
4. SYSTEM INSTALLATION AND RUNNING THE PROGRAM
A. Floppy disk system
0. Insert disk in drive A:
1. At DOS prompt A>, enter the command: wp
(Notes:
A. wp.exe is the program name.
B. The system is very easy to use, just run it. )
B. Hard disk system
0. To load the system from A: to C:
Insert the disk in drive A:
At DOS prompt A>, enter the command: load_wp
(Notes: load_wp.bat is a batch file that makes a
new directory \wpart in c: and copies all Word-
Part DICTIONARY files from a: to this directory.
It also changes the working directory to c:\wpart.)
1. To run the program:
Enter the command: wp
(Notes:
A. wp.exe is the program name.
The program wp.exe is in the dir. \wpart.
B. It is recommended that you move wp.exe to ano-
ther directory so that it is accessible at all
time.
C. You can run the program from any directory,
provided that:
a. all *.dat files are in \wpart
b. wp.exe is accessible by DOS.
D. The system is designed to be manual free; all
you need to do is load and go. )
5. LICENSE AGREEMENT
This system is released to the shareware distribution
system under the following conditions:
a. The files shall be distributed as a completed set.
All the files that come with the system shall
not be modified or deleted.
b. The users may get a copy of this system directly
from EDICOM SYSTEMS by sending us a check of $4,
or from any of the shareware distributors.
c. The user understands and agrees that he/she will
pay the author thru registration, if he/she decides
to use this system beyond the evaluation period.
6. LIMITED LIABILITIES
THIS SOFTWARE AND MANUAL ARE SOLD "AS IS" AND WITHOUT
ANY WARRANTY AS TO PERFORMANCE. BECAUSE OF THE DIVER-
